New Mom/ Mom-to-be? Attend this workshop and WIN BabySense Hamper!

BabySense

I remember clearly how daunting those first few weeks of motherhood were, so that’s why I was a firm believer in being at places where other new moms were – even if just to see other people who were feeling as “befuddled” as I was or to look other’s in the eye and admit that it was a little overwhelming 🙂 This seminar was a lovely little outing for my son and I – I wore him in a sling and breastfed inbetween (under a BabySense muslin, with no judgement from anyone in the audience!) to keep him as quiet as possible while I soaked all the info. Quick summary of venues and dates and more info below. Worth going to – even if just for the scones in the breaks 😉 I remember scoffing about 4 with jam and cream in quick succession and blaming breastfeeding! Info on how to win the BabySense hamper worth R1050 below.

15 August 2015 – Durban – Three Cities Riverside Hotel

With such a wealth of information available to expectant moms and new parents, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of facts or to be confused by different points of view and opinions. The Johnson’s Baby Sense seminars are designed to convey concise and expert information to moms-to-be and new parents with babies up to 12 months of age. The seminars are now in its 12th year and have become a vital and credible source of to-the-point information.

The parenting experts this year include Sr Ann Richardson (co-author of Baby Sense and Sleep Sense), Tina Otte (midwife and special editor of Your Pregnancy), Lizanne du Plessis (OT and author of Raising Happy Children), Kate Bailey (OT and early childhood development and stimulation expert) and Dr Welma Lubbe (registered nurse and advanced midwife with qualifications in neonatal nursing science). This panel of experts will assist parents with invaluable information on a variety of topics that are close to a new parent’s heart.

In the first session (08h30 – 12h00), our experts will equip moms-to-be with everything they need to know about baby’s transition from womb to world, the golden hour straight after birth as well as newborn basics.

The afternoon session is aimed at parents with babies up to 12 months of age and will include information on stimulating your baby, gentle sleep solutions and what it takes to be a brave mom.

A Johnson’s Baby Massage Workshop takes place between the two sessions and will teach moms the benefits of sensory stimulation and provide tips for baby massage and how parents can communicate with their baby through touch and massage.

Dates and venues for the Johnson’s Baby Sense Seminars:

1 August 2015 – Port Elizabeth – Radisson Blu Hotel
15 August 2015 – Durban – Three Cities Riverside Hotel

When I found out I was pregnant in 2014, both my hubby and I were over the moon. We were so excited about this new addition to our family that I started stocking up on diapers and clothes and all the little things I thought that I, a first time mom could possibly need. Sadly, I miscarried at 8 weeks and I honestly believed that my life was over….why did this happen? Did I not deserve to be a mom? It was the most dark and painful time in my life, thinking that I had done something wrong. Needless to say, when I found out in Jan 2015 that I was expecting again, everyday, every doctors appointment, every twinge and twitch was a moment of anxiety. Now, at 32 weeks, I’m so grateful that my unborn son is healthy and the pregnancy is progressing as it should. The first trimester was fairly easy with no nausea or morning sickness, but as the time draws closer to my due date, growing another person is becoming hard work. I wish someone would have warned me about the jabs and kicks in your ribs and the constant pain I would experience as my son nestles himself under my rib cage….but I’m still grateful, as I know that every painful kick and jab means my boy is OK. More than that I cannot ask for, I go on my knees daily, to give thanks for my growing miracle. The baby is due the day after my birthday and a more precious gift I can’t wait to receive . See you soon little one….mommy and daddy cannot wait to meet you xxxx

Happiest expectation of motherhood would be to see my baby open his or her eyes for the first time ?

After an almost 10 year journey of not being able to conceive naturally, my husband and I decided to adopt. Not knowing how long the wait would be, we chose to be positive and hopeful that it wouldn’t be too too long. It wasn’t.

From the time we were placed on the waiting list, till when we got the call to say there was a beautiful baby boy for us to adopt, the wait was 9 months. Yes. Really. The three weeks that followed that call, till when our baby would come home, was a whirlwind.

On Sunday, our boy will be home for a month, and it has been jam packed with fond memories. My fondest so far though, is the moment our baby was placed into my arms, & he smiled at me, as though to say: “So good to meet you, mum.”

We’ve just recently become the parents to a beautiful baby boy we call Noah. Absolutely nothing prepares you for parenthood. It’s a love that cannot be described or explained. You just know your child was born to be loved. And so each day is a new learning experience for both parent and child that we look forward to with open arms.

I don’t have children yet but I would like to have some one day. I have so many fears and anxieties due to many factors that are caused by uncertainties. I would love to attend the seminar to gain more information as knowledge is power. Children are a gift from God and one day when I have my own I want to be the best mom that I can be!

I am 5 months pregnant with my first baby. The best part of being pregnant thus far is the fact that for now it feels like it is just me and my baby in a bubble. Even though others may know about it, only I can feel and experience every moment intimately with her. It’s our alone time before the world gets invited as well.

Would love to attend the seminar in Cape Twon. Seems like a very useful and special experience.

The poem you shared by Khalil Gibran really is beautiful and sums up the journey of parenthood and motherhood and the role we are to play. My happiest expectation would be the privilege of seeing life from a fresh perspective through the life journey of my child and to see my little one flourishing through exploration and discovery in the free space I create for them. The journey of life ultimately is the discovery of self and finding what sets your soul of fire, so that you can truly impact and bless the lives of those around you with what fills you with a sense of purpose. That my children love with passion and do what gives them a sense of purpose, would be everything! And I know that as they learn and discover so do I – as mothers we are both the student and the teacher ❤️
