My favourite modern mommy post is the “Fitness post baby” post. I am a 31 year old without a child and my biggest fear during and after pregnancy is the weight gain and whether I would ever be able to shed it all off. That post shed some light for me and am more than ready to give my hubby the child he’s always wanted! Thank you

My best and favourite modern momy post was the “Carseatfullstop” post. I have a 6 month old baby boy and do not allow us to travel anywhere without him being buckled into his car seat. I have noticed so many parents who do not use car seats for their babies because it is just around the corner ?Sadly accidents can happen directly outside your house. Thank you for your post and bringing more awareness to safety for babies. They need a voice and you have certainly given them one ?

My favorite post was the breastfeeding smoothie recipe post. As a breastfeeding mom of a gorgeous 3 month old boy I do find that some days my production is lower because of a hectic lifestyle or just not managing to get enough rest at night. I’m so grateful for any tip on boosting breast milk production, especially since I will be returning to work soon. The smoothie did wonders and brewer’s yeast is now a staple in my pantry ?
Thanks for an awesome and inspiring blog

My favourite was the post baby exercise post. It’s been 4 months since my baby and I’m struggling to get back into shape. And seeing u back at the gym so quick was quite inspiring. I’m also at the gym but after baby no.2 its a mission to loose those gained pregnancy kilos. Your babies are gorgeous and so are you!!!

My favourite post is the “WHAT’S SO SCANDALOUS ABOUT CARRYING/ FEEDING A HUMAN?” I’ve breastfed both my kids, and your post resonated with me as I was always so conscious of where I fed my baby and who was around. And it shouldn’t be this way for breastfeeding women.

My favorite post was #CARSEATFULLSTOP. My son refused from an early age to sit in his seat. I have read so many horrific stories about children not in car seats dying instantly in an accident. Prevention is better than grieving the loss of a child. Now he says mommy my seat every time we get in the car. Thank you for inspiring so many women and men out there. Now he says mommy my seat every time we get in the car.

FITNESS POST BABY 🙂 HOW TO GET YOUR BABY BLUES AND BUMP UNDER CONTROL
Was my favourite post because it’s so relevant to me right now. It’s my first pregnancy and I’m 37weeks. Even though I’m overjoyed with my little bundle of joy arriving soon (It’s A Girl) just pass those happy thoughts are lingering thoughts of “oh gosh, am I fat now?!” In my cultural background it’s almost the expected norm to “eat for two” (if you ask me more of an excuse to eat junk food) and “let yourself go” during and even after pregnancy. This blog post is so positive and just reminded me to push forward and that it is possible to be beautiful and healthy during and post pregnancy. I realised all these negative thoughts towards my pregnant-body was never even mine, people bombarded me with so many comments i started believing them. If Jo-Ann can do it (and her lifestyle way more hectic then mine)…so can I!!? after all if you don’t like it-Change It!

My Favourite post is definately Fitness Post Baby: how to get your baby blues and bump under control. Posted 11 August 2016. It is my favourite post cause as much as getting back your body in shape of is also about eating healthy and strengthening your muscles. I am not a new mother but I am still struggling with a bump. I have attpted several times and then just somehow give up but modernmommy post inspired me to keep at it and to remind me that healthy living is just as important. Today I am proud of myself for keeping at it despite the sore muscles and I have in the process discovered great healthy meals. Thanks for the inspiration.

MIND THE GAP – THAT MYTHICAL “PERFECT” AGE GAP BETWEEN KIDS- is my favourite post!
I am 33, my 2 boys are 1 . 2 months and 2 . 2 months (years) old. They are 362 days apart. Truly there is no such perfection. My first born spent his 1st birthday welcoming his mother home with the greatest gift, a baby brother and best friend for life. He is so lucky, my second baby spent his first birthday on the birthday of his brother. He was honoured to share it with big bro, whom he at this young age, idolizes.I sometimes feel that I robbed them of their baby childhood because life gets really busy at times, esp when they both want your affection, and then I said, no, I couldn’t have, for they will always remember the joys of being together. They will grow with the understanding of sharing and being compassionate for others for rest of their lives. At this point, I’m a FULL time mum, with both on nappies, night feeds, baby talk and huge passion for Tools (we are in the construction industry) and lots of joy. God has given me a small gap and I don’t mind it AT all❤️ I say THANK YOU. 2 for the price of 1 ?❤️

This award will have to go to MIND THE GAP. I always hear people asking me about number 2 of which i really am not prepared for in any sphere at this moment. I appreciate the post because no gap big or small can change sibling love. Siblings are the best gift to have so no matter the age gap the love will forever be real and uncondition ! Thank you

Firstly i would like to say that i really enjoy ready your blog! Jo-Ann you are very inspiring to women, you ooze class, style, friendliness and professionalism.
i have two favourite posts that link to each other, they are “little miracle” and “celebrating being able to give back”.
i feel that it is important that each of us in South Africa tries to give back to society in one way or the other. some may not be able to give back in money but just with a slice of bread or small meal or 1 piece of clothing item. it is important for us to stand together “ubuntu” in order to support those less fortunate in our country. every little bit counts.
your blogs were encouraging to know that local stars and local successful businesses are giving back to the community. your encouragement to the people and your dream of feeding so many homes is inspiring and incredible.
i will endeavour to give back to South Africa in every bit of work i do.

My fav post was the Breastfeeding week post. As a new Mom one of the things I was excited about was breastfeeding. The more I breastfed in public ‘awkward ” it was.
What I love about the post was that it helped boost my confidence in not feeling ashamed of doing first what is best for my precious bundle but also in doing what is completely normal and what I was made to do. It equally reminded me to be grateful that I am able to breastfeed my child. A gift that others less fortunate would simply long to have.

    Thank you again

My favourite post is the importance of car seats. I have 3 year old twin boys and nothing frustrates me more than people who don’t care enough to put their kids in a seat. My boys have learnt that they must be strapped in before I can go anywhere with them and even repeat the words “safety first” and remind me to put my seat belt on. Not that I need the reminder :).
Your blog is an inspiration as I am very much a modern mommy trying to fit it all in … the exercise is the thing that suffers most but I keep telling myself I will get there!

My two favorite post was the breastfeeding blog and losing the weight blog. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and anxious awaiting the arrival of my gorgeous rainbow baby. It’s just always a worry whether I would be able to feed my little one because it is something new,I know I shouldn’t over think it and things will happen naturally but still it’s just something that lingers on your mind. Your other blog about exercising and losing weight, I’m not obsessed over weight gain because I’ve always been tiny, it’s in my families genes but yep once you preggie you sure do pack on those pound. I just admire how incredibly fit and smart u look even two weeks after your little one and I hope that happens for me too. Thanks for your awesome modern mommy blogs.

It’s really difficult to choose just one post as I have enjoyed every article on the blog. I am a brand new mom-to-be and found the stroller search extremely overwhelming, with a very large variety of choices, models and prices. The THIS DOONA CAR SEAT/ STROLLER ROCKS MY WORLD, is my favourite article as it highlighted the key elements for stroller on the go and provided great insight into what to look out for as well as the Babarazzi website, a great one-stop-online store with loads of information for a baby novice like myself, it’s comforting to have mom’s in the know to provide tips.

Thanks for the being there for moms throughout the journey.

I am a mom of one child and there has been discussion around having a second baby. Time always comes around and stresses me out regarding expanding the family. I want the kids to grow up together and be close but I also feel guilty regarding how do I share my time and love…I assume that is automatic but still afraid there is some difference. I do not want my daughter to feel left out or unloved when there is a new baby around. Your words of experience sets some ease onto my mind. Actually all your blogs has some significance in my life. HI there. As a new mommy to be – the blog post about breast pumps has just stuck with me. I can’t help but have this image in my head of a cow that is being milked. awful I know!!!!!! Terrifying also!!!. But you gave such good advice and I think it was even the Madela pump you were giving way on that blog.
Thus still waiting for our 1st bundle of joy to enter the world I am a little less freaked out about breastfeeding. One less thing to be worried about.

My favourite is Mind the gap and also you post about travelling with a newborn.
My girls are 12 months apart. At the moment they are age 1 and age 2. They are already playing together so nicely, and though it can get hectic with two on nappies and bottle. We have 2 girls that are the best of friends. I also do everything with my girls, holidays, travelling, shopping etc.. And it’s possible to still be a glam mom with two toddlers. As long as there’s child friendly restaurants and resorts around we have 3 happy girls.
Thanks for all your great posts Jo-Ann

Jeez…how does one choose! Loved the Doona car seat/pram post ? and the link to the competition! But my absolute favorite was MIND THE GAP… I am 24weeks pregnant with nr3 our tie-breaker, as we have a 7 year old son & a 2 year old “madam”! This after ALWAYS wanting to stop at one ? I was baffled at how I could ever love more than one child… I realized after bringing home my daughter that I would have deprived my son from the love & support only a sibling could give him. They adore each other and because of their different personalities get to see life from different angles. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for my threesome.
Thank you for an amazing (often tear jerking) blog and great collaborations with other “goddesses” in the industry ?

This has been on my ‘list of things to do’ for as long as I can remember… SIMPLFY and DECLUTTER! Why is it that we find ourselves constantly fighting for time, our most precious commodity. Finding that work-life-balance is a struggle on most days. Saving time doing laundry in the week, or cooking in advance…means more time with my little boy. Mental declutter happens in my quiet time,,, I am grateful for the simple pleasures that is food for the soul….that moment in the shower when you appreciate your ‘me time’…the sweet sounds of bliss in silence 🙂

Out of all the posts my favourite is
WHAT’S SO SCANDALOUS ABOUT CARRYING/ FEEDING A HUMAN? and POST BABY BODY. The reason for this is that as a young wana be but don’t have much time modern mom (I never even wear lipstick let alone high heels) but I admire the honesty in those posts. Often us ‘normal/everyday’ moms look at celeb moms and compare ourselves and dream about how perfect life must be for you, but these posts help us to see that you too go through what we do and then it somehow I don’t feel so bad, I also then realise that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others because we are all different. But as moms we all go through similar struggles like losing the baby weight, or handling blow out poos or having to deal with everyone else’s opinions on our bodies or how we feed our children. At the end of the day we do what’s best for our baby, our family and ourselves! We put our kids first always but I will admit that a make over and photoshoot to boost the confidence and look glam for a bit would be fab! My body and hair even has changed so much since having a baby that I struggle with style and have never been great with makeup and now there’s just hardly any time, being a working mom. I wouldn’t change having my baby girl Saara for the world though, I simply love being a mom it is the most rewarding thing and I so look forward to seeing my girl when I get home from work each day!

I really enjoyed the ‘Fitness Post Baby’ blog you wrote. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. In my first trimester I found it hard to go train, though it is my absolute favourite hobbie to do. I am back at gym in my second trimester and walking far more now than I ever before. I am picking up weight but it is really motivating to read you lost most of your baby weight after giving birth. It has been quite difficult for me to wrap my head around hitting a weight I have never been since my early 20s when I was overweight and unhealthy but I know I am growing another human in my body and must just let the process happen in the healthiest possible way!

Daddy’s little girl. Having two daughters and seeing the relationship they have with their dad gives a warm feeling in my heart because I never knew that kind of bond. At first I was a bit jelouse I must admit but later on I realised that is what Fathers are suppose to be for their daughters. That save place of just getting on his lap and putting your arms around him anytime of the day. That’s what I loved about your blog. The love and the characteristics you looked at when you were looking for your soul mate. Although not exactly the same but someone who 90% rezamble your dad. My daughters always say I want a husband like my dad and I couldn’t agree more. There’s nothing like a father’s love. They don’t always agree on everything but nothing can come between them. Love it.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine who I thought I was really close to posted a picture of my little one and her cousin with a speech bubble with my boy saying and I quote…”Mommy why doesn’t my hair look so gorgeous :(” My heart sank and broke into a million pieces…how could someone I thought was my friend do this on social media? I cried…and cried…and just commented in a respectful but in a way to let her understand judging others is wrong! I agree with you…

My favourite post would have to be “Fitness post baby…How to get your baby blues and bump under control”. I was blessed to be called mommy at 24 (married at 23) and I remember standing on the scale when they booked me in to hospital when active labour kicked in. I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw the scale reflect triple digits?!! I brushed it off and went through the amazing journey of delivering my gorgeous baby boy. I lost a few kilo’s shortly after birth and still couldn’t believe that I had picked up a total of 34kg’s during my pregnancy. Life continued and 3 years later we welcomed another addition…our beautiful baby girl! That’s it! My pigeon pair! But the weight was back and much harder to lose at this point. I became depressed and felt ashamed to dress up because the reflection in the mirror was never satisfying in my eyes. I had 2 demanding kids, a husband who was unemployed at the time, a demanding job which consisted of lots of extra hours and weekend hours as well – and I could never afford gym or healthy eating due to be demands of keeping my household happy and afloat. 1 year ago I remember waking up one morning feeling extremely unhealthy and that’s when I decided that I needed to do something for ME and my family! I avoided beach and park outings with the kids because that would mean that I would need to either put on a bather or run up and down which I was not equipped to do with all the additional flab and non existent fitness levels. I then decided to join the gym and started making healthy food choices. It was THE BEST decision of my life! I have since lost a total of 17kg’s! My kids comment daily and that motivates me! I feel fantastic and my confidence levels have soared! I would LOVE to be the lucky winner of this giveaway as I have no idea on how to dress according to my new body, and a true reflection to ME for ME would be seeing myself glow in those photos! I would like to also add that my hubby and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary next month and this would definitely put the cherry on the top!

The post was so relevant and applicable to me at the time. I am still breastfeeding my 19 month old daughter. It wasnt an easy journey but I think it would of been a lot easier if society was more accepting of this very human and natural way to nuture and bond with your baby, not to mention being their only source of food! I am 100% with you and all for the freedom to breastfeed! Keep the awesome blog posts coming!

Fitness post baby, is the most recent post that hit home for me. Personally, this topic has more layers than an onion, which very few people are prepared to be real about.
Not having “conceived ” in the conventional way, has no bearing on the realness of this daily struggle for me. Like when I shave my hair, I feel my most feminine, so too I would like to feel as a mother. So I fight – daily. After all, who’s responsibility is it, right?
Thanks you for blogging this particular post Jo-Ann, because it speaks to the realness of what many women deal with in their personal way and on different levels.
Thank you too for being real about these things, and creating a space for us to be too.

SIMPLIFY AND DECLUTTER is my favourite post. I am all about simplifying and balancing my life as best as possible. It’s become particularly hard to do with two littlies but even more important because when I’m off-kilter, it affects them too. I’ve also battled to bring some kind of focus back to myself and my goals and ambitions, which I’ll get to next year. With a particularly tough year of traveling to the States for surgeries for my son this post is particularly poignant for me. Thank you.

My favourite was the article on breastfeeding week. We need so much more awareness around breast feeding and so much more encouragement especially since we are a developing country and formula is expensive. We need good breast feeding role models like yourself to show woman it can be done and to get support for those who do breastfeed. That being said even if a mommy formula feeds she still needs support. All mommies.need love and support.

Travel with a Toddler is my fave post!
Firstly I have to say all your posts are my favourite as I follow you regiously. I feel that you are such a “real” person, being a celeb and mommy and you do both so glamoursly and so proudly and you are doing an amazing job. You don’t only post the glamour pics, you post the real mommy pics too, like poo on the plane 🙂 I laughed so hard I almost pee’d (don’t know about spelling lol). As a working mom I can relate to all your experiences and remember when I was at that point in my life. My son is five now, and hubby wants a second child but im putting the brakes on as I want to have time for my kids, and not squeeze them into my day as I feel like I’m doing now. About the blog post – Travelling with a toddler – I still find myself making lists, packing food even if we go for a “drive”. There’s no quick weekend away, or date night – its all about the kiddo – what will they eat, where will they play – how many toys can we take with and end up buying a toy as a souvenier i suppose from wherever we travelled. But he knows his story now – he can tell you almost every toy and where he got it from – so maybe it was worth it. I recall on a flight back from Turkey with two year old in tow, and we had to stop at the toy store before returing home. He bought the biggest airplane i have ever seen and decided he will hold it on the plane. I knew then I was in for a very long nine hours! the toy plane made sounds at random moments, freaked out passengers and baby had a running tummy and we almost missed our flight as we were at McDonalds getting food for the plane – I can sit back and laugh now, back then it was a stressfull situation.
I could go on forever, let me end here.
thank you for being so real and for being you. You have no idea how many women you inspire daily.
never stop doing what you are doing!
    All my love, Nayyirah!

    Hi Jo-Ann

It would have to be the “WOW, DOES YOUR CHILD DO THAT ALREADY?” post. My son is 13 months old and not yet walking, I”m just about on the verge of taking him to every known specialists, especially as I’m constantly hearing comment like “my baby started walking at 10 months” or my baby was speaking by 12 month”s. Can we just slow down already. Trusting that my baby will start walking and talking in his own time.

    Kind Regards
    Shandre

One of my favourite posts so far was on ‘fitness post baby…’ This post hit home for because I have been putting off going back to the gym after having my first baby (who is now 17 months old). My common excuses are work, running my home and being wife and mother – there just isn’t any time with all my other responsibilities. Your statement in the post “I’ve pushed it up my list as I realise that it’s not a selfish investment at all. I need to be as fit and healthy as possible to be the best possible mom and wife I can be.” is what made me realize of course being strong and healthy is going to be better for myself and my family in the long run. What good am I to them stressed, tired and worn out? The post motivated me to relook my budget and move gym back onto the priority side of things! Thanks!

I have a lot of favourites but I must say that the one about breastfeeding was the best since there is a lot of controversy about breastfeeding but I must say that I have breastfed both my boys and it was the best decision I have ever made for them and I liked how you encouraged women to breastfeed their kids.

My favorite post was: TRAVELLING: NEW MOMS AND NOT SO NEW MOMS.
My little Sophia is now 10 months old. A week ago we came back from our annual “god mother” trip. It was a very emotional and sad, yet also happy trip for both of us.
Sophia’s daddy was diagnosed with cancer when she was 2 months old, and passed away in the day she turned 6 months.
All of a sudden I was faced with the daunting task of being a single Mommy and the financial implication there of.
Sophia has 2 God mothers, my cousin in Berlin and my best friend in London. They both stepped up to the plate and urged me to come and visit them, saying I need time to heal. We booked out tickets and off we went.
    Thank you to:
The granny from America sitting next to me on the long haul CT to UK flight, that soothed Sophia when I was in tears and put her in her travel cot
    Thank you to:
The Italian waitress in Berlin that helped me hold Sophia while I changed her nappy on a very small and very high window sill in the bathroom of the restautant.
    Thank you to:
The complete stranger helping me with her Pram on Bond street escalator.
    Thank you to:
The kind lady that help her at airport security while I put all our stuff through the scanner.
    Thank you too:
The lovely Portugese man on the Berlin to London flight that entertained her for the full duration of the flight by pulling faces and making a puppet show with his hands.
Thank you to everyone that smiles at her, played peekaboo with her, helped me that might seem in a small way to you but meant in a big way to me.
I did it! I travelled to two countries with a very busy little one, on a budget and I had fun.
My heart also found some time to heal…

My favourite post is “The Ugly side of Pretty Pictures”. It was the first Modern Mommy post I read and it really resonated with me not only because it reminded me about being less of a critic with regard to other people’s lives; but also because it made me think twice about what I wanted to put out there share with the world. So often we become consumed with social media, we Facebook post, Tweet or Instagram snippets of our lives. We become consumed with showing the world the amazing things we experience and we forget to just take a step back and breathe in the moment. “The Ugly Side of Pretty Pictures” really made me think about how much I wanted to share in terms of my journey as a mother and to choose which moments I wanted to let the world in on and which ones I just wanted to savour as ONLY mine…

Your blog always seems to put a smile on my dial. I look at you and am so in awe of how you seem to carry yourself and the load that is two kids! I too have two little ones, a 3 year old boy and 9 month old girl and boy are they a handful, but pure joy! Your latest post, about the gap between kids is definitely one I loved. So many of your posts are relatable or inspiring but this post I completely loved. To see the bond between siblings being formed and watch them adjust to having each other around is so special. I experience it daily with my kids and I love your posts as its another mother living a totally different life, enjoying the same little moments of happiness as me. Reading your posts makes me feel like I’m part of a modern moms club and I always turn to it for a dose of happiness and comfort. Thank you for sharing your life, with us all.

I really enjoy all the posts and each one is so informative. My favorite post is : WEEKEND AWAY WITH THE FAMILY. I recently took a country drive up the South Coast in Durban, which was approx a 2 hours drive. I was really nervous but your post gave so many tips and advice… Not to mention the giggles, I could only picture your face when baby threw yoghurt all over the car…haha. Needless to say I was well-prepared and the drive went great. I am no longer scared to go on long trips and I’m actually looking forward to going on a longer trip in the future. It’s so good interacting and reading about another real life hands on mother who is able to still conquer the working world. You are an inspiration to me, who is a young working mother who finds everything overwhelming sometimes. Thank you for the great posts!

Choosing a favourite is a bit tough, but if I had a gun to my head lol, I’d go with #carseatfullstop . Having had two pregnancies and only one baby, it’s needless to say, safety of babies, or children in general is a biggie. Having lost a child, you learn to value the smaller things. So yes, losing my child was involuntary, but should I lose my child voluntarily ( by not doing something simple such as strapping him in a car seat ) would be unforgivable. I therefore cannot understand the ignorance of our country when even after a law was created to protect our children, do some still fail to abide. Especially in a time where reckless drivers are all over. My 2 cents, thank you for a wonderful aspiring blog. You’ve inspired to want to start my own

For me I was new to your blog and well new to being a mom. So the Express yourself breastfeeding article was.great. Before giving birth to Maverick I thought I would be too shy to breastfeed in public and make sure to cover up. But I soon realised if he is hungry and i want to get out the house ( was rather a hermit these past 4 months ) I would need to be ok with it. So in turn I fed him where I was. Mainly restaurants but I find the mall tricky. I tried feeding in my wrap so I could walk with him, but still figuring thst one out. I must say I struggled to breastfeed due to the pain, did research and got it right, so from week 2 till now (he is almost 4 months old ) it’s been amazing. I just want to add thst your blog is really fun and informative. You are a celebrity that makes it look easy and glam! ( Never thought I would be without makeup during day but to shower is just awesome) but by reading your blogs makes me realise you a mommy just like me. And we love our children and do th3 best we can . Thank you !

    Hello Jo-Ann

What a wonderful prize! I’m sure there are many women like me going “I totally need that makeover!”. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your prizes are always amazing.

I enjoyed the blog post about you travelling to Berlin for fashion week with your VERY young baby. You get the shero award for doing that. But my ultimate favourite blog post was entitled “FITNESS POST BABY 🙂 HOW TO GET YOUR BABY BLUES AND BUMP UNDER CONTROL”
The reason I liked it so much was because of the practical tip. But my favourite part was your honesty about how much weight you gained with baby 1 and baby 2. So many celebrities are not transparent where that’s concerned and it felt good to hear that everyone gains weight during pregnancy. Also that with baby number 2 the weight gain can be a bit more.

Thank you once again for this amazing blog and for enabling conversations about this important topic!

MIND THE GAP – THAT MYTHICAL “PERFECT” AGE GAP BETWEEN KIDS

Thus is my favourite to date because ever since my daughter was born, the question started bugging me. Trying to decide on what the perfect age gap would be before we tried for the second. Now, (on a good day when she’s slept through the night and not thrown up in me) I’m willing to throw caution to the wind and go with whatever will be. Of course, on a bad day, she’ll be an only child forever!

The one article that hit home for me was about breastfeeding in public. This is because people look at you funny and it makes you feel horrible as a breastfeeding mom. I even posted about my experience at a clothing shop when I had to breastfeed my son. I had sit in between aisles and breastfeed. Thanks to your article, I don’t feel bad at all now, as of yesterday I breastfed my son in a bank and when the baby is happy,I’m happy.

My daughter has such an amazing bond with her dad. And they look so much alike too,
So in honour of my dad whom has passed on last year. I will cherish and respect the bond between a father and daughter Forever. So thankyou for sharing your bond with your father. It certainly made my heart smile.

I love makeovers! It seems to bring out the woman we have long forgotten.

I love the post: IN YOUR INFINITE “JUDGINESS”… especially the part where she says: “Instead of giving each a hi-5 and saying, “Well done for doing one of the hardest jobs around. I get it. You get it. Let’s give each other a break!” it’s, “You chose formula? Shame. Your poor child.” Or “You had a C-section? Too posh to push?” or “Why would you choose natural, your poor husband!”

As mothers we give all of ourselves to our families and often neglect ourselves and even though we are sad to see our reflection in the mirror, we would do it all over again because it’s worth it. We are all just trying to do our best and our fellow girls should be supportive in our journey and cheer us on. So whether you are a mom of one, a stepmom, a mom of an unborn child,; you are no less than the word’s meaning… You are mom. We should not be judged for being a different mom but be celebrated just for being one.

We are all deserving but I hope I win !

    Hi modern mommies.
Jo-Ann, I enjoy reading about your motherhood experiences. You indeed makes it look so glamorous. The posts I enjoyed most were the ones on breastfeeding. I am a first time mommy to a beautiful three month old baby boy and I am still in awe of the beauty of motherhood. The way God made us women are just amazing. From the way your body just respond to the tiniest whimper from your little one, to the most amazing feeling when you get the satisfied look with a gum grin?. I feel so blessed and highly favored that God would entrust me with the privilege to get to nurture someone so special and precious. Loving this journey called motherhood??

My eldest daughter will be 15 in a week and then I have a 8yr old daughter too. So I definitely liked mind the gap for all that use full information, but my favourite post would be the breastfeeding one, I could relate to so much and I learnt so much too. Sleep blog post baby – I must say the most attention grabbing one for me was the one one where your husband commented on how your son had to feel now that there is a new person sleeping in the bed. Precious little Zoe was only 3months old when I was expecting pretty Payten. I enjoyed the starres of strangers in public when I was highly pregnant and pushing a baby in the pram lol. I am now convinced that the 12month age gap is perfect. They are eachother’s beat friend and worst enemies at times. They learn from eachother and dont need play dates. They are never bored because they have eachother. I did not give anyone a opportunity to ask me when are you going for nr 2 LOL. Thank you for sharing you experiences with us Jo-Ann mwah

    Hi Jo-Ann

Firstly, let me say I love all your blogs. You write very well and I always feel inspired after reading your blogs. One that stands out for me is ” 1+1 does not= 2 with kids”. As parents we don’t really understand the full impact that a new sibling will have. As I commented on one of your blogs previously, I had a very difficult pregnancy from the beginning until the end. Towards the end of the pregnancy is had to undergo very risky surgery and my 5 year old son had to stay with relatives. The help was much appreciated by hubby and myself but it disrupted his routine and affected him emotionally as he missed us and was very worried about mummy and his sister in my tummy. The following week I had an emergency ceaser and baby was in ICU for 2 weeks. Big brother’s stay with relatives was extended and he could not see his little sister. This affected him emotionally as he could not understand why he couldn’t see his sister. Finally, when baby got discharged I had to stay with relatives to assist me with premature baby. Needless to say by the time I finally got home my son was emotionally distant and it took a while for him to get into routine and start playing ‘big brother’☺ I marvel as I see how their bond develop daily and realise it was all worth it in the end. Despite all odds we made it.

I have to return to work soon and winning this prize will do wonders to my being?.

    Love
    Julie-Ann

Ok, I loved: In your intimate judginess… did I quote that title correctly? This is so real and so disconcerting, to put it lightly. When I was pregnant, I read every piece of information I could find and it was so confusing. And in and among all these absolute theories, were the comments from people who I thought should understand. I have found some judgement in my friends circle as well. Here you are, having no clue what you are supposed to do and constantly second guessing yourself and those who are able to support or be kind at the very least, raise their eyebrows or tell you how to do it better because you aren’t doing it right. Eish. What it has done for me now, is create a sensitivity for anyone who is going through something, regardless of the fact that I disagree or don’t understand. Let’s love one another and lean on one another and offer tissues or chocolate – whichever

I fully agree to your statement below. I so wish for more sleep.”Gradually I’m feeling more and more human – his sleep has regressed and her sleep … well, I’m doing the puppy feeding through the night so I’m not even sure whether we’re getting enough sleep or whether I’m creating bad habits, but … I’ve realised that as long as they’re alive and I’m relatively vaguely able to hold a conversation (albeit after 2 cups of coffee which means you finish your caffeine quota for the day by 8 am), I’m not going to beat myself up.

More and more, I’m watching them become friends. Okay, maybe friends is a stretch. More like comrades or companions. The greatest gift is to be able to grow up with a sibling – regardless of the size of the age gap and I’m so excited to watch them grow together in so many ways.”
I have three boys age 10, 7, 23 months old toddler. My 23 month old toddler is more closer to my eldest son however very protective over my 7 year old boy. It is a continuous battle between the three of them when it comes to attention. I went from hot working lady to plump working mother (working at all times). This is my first time reading your blogs and I find it very interesting and helpful. Keep up the good work modern mommy.

My favourite topic was the “Mind the gap” one, it resonated with me as my kids are 21 months apart and I always wonder how fair that was to my first born. She was just a baby herself when she had to learn to share her mommy with another little one. And of course my second born (unplanned by the way) was a very sickly baby who needed lots of attention. But today I can say she’s is always looking out for her sibling although I often have to remind her that she is not his mommy!

My favourite post is MIND THE GAP – THAT MYTHICAL “PERFECT” AGE GAP BETWEEN KIDS. I feel that it is better to not have one’s kids more than two years apart as this enables and fosters a closer relationship between them normally., also all depending on the types of parenting styles used. Although being siblings comes with it a natural affection it is normally better when closer in age and they grow together as opposed to facing different dilemmas at different points in their lives. I really love how close your kids are and I hope this continues throughout life Amen.

My favourite post (not that this was an easy decision because I love all your posts) was the one about breastfeeding. I am 4.5 weeks away from welcoming my first one into the world & breastfeeding is a very sensitive topic for me. I am passionate about it because I feel that the Western culture has made breastfeeding frowned upon. While in some other cultures, breasts aren’t seen as sexual objects. As a future food truck to my little one, I don’t want to be forced into an unhygienic cubicle to feed my baby. Breastfeeding is natural & women should celebrate it, instead of shunning against it. And if the men have a problem, well tough. Like I always say “stop looking”. It’s like looking at someone eating a burger.

My favourite post is Freedom to express yourself. Breastfeeding. Most modern mummies are too concerned about the look if their breasts would look after breadfeeding. I love that you are a celebrity, one that inspires me daily but a human and a mother being first. Taking pride in nuturing your children and giving them the best possible formula. Breast milk, the right amount of nutrition which is contained inside our bodies. One single moment, one unselfish decision that can change the future of your children. We you are a mother and wife first above all else. We take for granted the freedom to express ourselves. Sometime i think we look to others to give us the green light when the right formula lies inside oyrselves.

My favourite post on your blog is Fitness Post Baby. Being a mom of 4, pregnancy has really taken its toll on my body. My kids were big babies all weighing in over 3kg. One thing I never did post baby was ‘strap my tummy’ and losing the belly seemed impossible. Although I tried to workout I lacked motivation to stick to it. One week I’d exercise then for two weeks I would stop. Following your posts on your blog or other social media pages, I thought to myself youre always busy, travelling, events, regular blogs and still a wife and mother, how do you have time to exercise. You look stunning after having your daughter. After seeing the Fitness post baby insert I realised there is no excuse to keep fit and healthy. I’ve started exercising again a little every day. Whenever I need inspiration I pop onto Facebook or instagram and those pics of you in your workout gear motivates me to get back into shape.Thank you.

Loved “WHAT’S SO SCANDALOUS ABOUT CARRYING/ FEEDING A HUMAN?” and “MIND THE GAP” – I am not a mom, ha, but I appreciated both because:

    1. I found the saga around public breastfeeding to be ridiculous. It is the most natural and nurturing thing. I am tired of people dictating how females should wear their clothes / how they should do their hair / how they should raise their kids. Society loves a boob when it is being sexualised.. But feed a baby? Goodness, no.

    2. I have wondered about the whole age gap thing for a while.
We are three kids; my brother and I are 6 years apart. So we have always been in different stages of life – He was born when I started primary school, He started primary school when I was moving to high school. And so on. My mom then got married and her husband has a daughter who is now 7 years old.
I’ve always thought that our gaps are messy, ha, because they are far apart. But maybe not. The older we get, the more friendly we become towards each other. When you’re younger you wish the age gap was smaller so that you had a buddy, but maybe it’s not even a thing. If you’re not friends during your primary school/high school years, it doesn’t matter. It will come after.

For your giveaway, I want to nominate my momma, Sandi Ndlovu. She breastfed us like a bhoss! Haha
She raised us the best she could. And she always has our back, even when our behaviour is just tragic. She deserves all the goodness in the world

I would LOVE the make-over as it would do a lot for my confidence to get back in the job market. I have to sons, 2 and 5, and have been at home ever since the first one was born. After giving birth to my first son, I battled to lose the 25kg’s that I picked up during the pregnancy. It was only after giving birth to my second son that I decided enough is enough. I have lost 20kg’s so far. However, losing the weight has not changed what I feel inside. Being overweight really knocked my confidence. I feel like my little 2 year old is now ready for school and I am ready to find myself again. This make-over would be a perfect start to the journey. I love all your blog posts. It’s really inspiring and helps to know that there are other moms out there with the same struggles. Thank you! P.s I don’t have Instagram xx

Hi …..My favorite was hard to pick but the one I think ppl possibly roll their eyes at the most about me is how I constantly “brag” draw attention and have been relentlessly for the past 11yrs about swing the world from my sons perspective …. Not a day goes by that I don’t bore someone with a funny story or second hand opinion of my sons take on a food , site seeing or program or piece of media news he has discussed with me. I love discovering the world through his eyes, I am always amazed and thrilled and sometimes completely shocked by his insight and mature, view on the world …. He has always been an old soul and since he shares his birthday with Madiba I am almost convinced that they are aligned through somehow …. My son is going to do great things in the most extrodanary things in his lifetime, I am just lucky to be a witness to his journey and will continue to have him reshape my sometimes jaded view of the world we live in … He is a constant reminder that their is enough good in the world to overcome all the challenges our modern society faces. His my joy and my challenge but most of all his my funny opinionated problem solving big brain boove ….

My favorite blog was the breastfeeding. I breastfed my last of 3 boys for 3 years. He never ever used dummies or bottles and his the healthiest of my kids . Been at the doctor twice in his 4 and a half years. I breastfed on demand, whenever and wherever. Covered that is :-). You are such an inspiration to moms out there. Mommahood is so worth every sleepless night. Mom of 3 adorable sons.

    Hi Jo-Ann,

I love your blog from the start. My oldest turned 3 in July and my second baby is almost a year. So I can associate with your two kids.
My current favourite post is the What is Fashion Week with a newborn really like?. Before that it was the one about travelling with a toddler as we also like to travel #havekidswilltravel 🙂

I would love to win this makeover as I have lost 11kg’s in the past few months!

    Keep blogging please.

    Hi!!
My favourite blog was about the age gap between siblings.
Clearly my husband and I did not have any telly at home because my youngest two are 10 months apart. They are now 3 and 4.
    IRISH TWINS
My eldest is 10 and is my little helper. Always the peace maker between the two youngens. I don’t know what I would do without his help its amazing to watch aswell.
Thank you for inspiring me with your modern mommy outlook on life.

I honestly love all your mommy posts, recently the Berlin fashion week post has been my favorite. I remember even posting a comment on one of your Instagram pictures that you totally are a super mom to be rocking heels with a baby! At an airport! I am a mom of a 1 year old and enjoy reading you write about juggling being a mom with your normal day to day activities. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to get my body back right away but even though I was skinny there was a lot of places that needed firming so I also recently started gymming as well.. Please keep the fitness posts coming. I look forward to you styling me:-) lots of love

I could really relate to “The ugly side of pretty pics”. I am a Cape Town based Digital Marketeer with a beautiful six year old little girl, and working on Social Media & PR a lot I realised the risk in “exposing” your children on public platforms and it is our job to protect them.

I am sure a makeover and fashion shoot will be a dream come true for any mommy! What I really enjoy in the blog posts is the fact that I am not alone in this constant battle of feeling overwhelmed – between being a mom, wife, have a career and still take care of yourself and still look FABULOUS!!!!!!! And I feel this makeover will be AMAZING!!! #ModernMommy you ROCK!

I liked the fitness post baby / how to get your baby blues and bump under control most.
I must admit, people really don’t understand what it’s like trying to make time to exercise with a newborn, not withstanding the challenge of getting a babysitter to assist when a mom needs a break. Gaining 20kgs during the pregnancy didn’t help either, though I’ve shed 17kgs, and am working on losing those last 3.

A yoga dvd for home workouts from my hubby has helped quite a bit.but I do want to get a more steady workout routine going.
With work and home daily stresses, keeping a steady head to tolerate marriage woes, busy toddler, frustration and depression for not balancing “me time” (which has been totally non existent for the past year)and exercise….a make over is just what I need.

I loved “fitness post baby” because yes it’s difficult for every woman to loose weight after a baby, my thoughts started while i was pregnant, because being 20 and expecting is more like a bucket in a well, and being short too didn’t help either, but now that I’ve reached my perk of adulthood, and my son almost 7, i have managed to keep my weight and mommy look being less worried about trying too hard, most people actually compliment me as they mostly think my sons my brother because his quiet tall for his age and I’m fairly a short person. I’ve seen friends struggle loosing weight and struggling with baby blues, some end up not even wanting to hold their new born for days..

Motherhood is beautiful, it’s a gift, it’s a moment in a woman’s life that makes her even more special..

I can’t wait to be pregnant again.. I love being a mother.
