It’s a small world .. no actually, it’s a Littleworld!

It’s amazing what a uniting force parenthood is. As parents, we all have one thing in common. We want the best for our kids, no matter what! And, as South African parents, that “what” can manifest itself in many, many interesting ways 🙂 Water restrictions, political uncertainty, #FeesMustFall protests … things that might make others a little hot under the collar. The great thing, though, is that as South Africans, we are a resilient and resourceful nation and we always get through what we need to.

I’ve been looking at many innovative ways to invest in and protect our children’s futures and how to prepare for the changing world we live in. And this world is one in which we need think about the future and the solutions we’ll need to tackle the challenges along the way. It takes a village to raise a child and I am always careful about the “villages” I choose to be part of. Whether we are talking about choosing schools or CSI projects or even loyalty programs, I think it’s essential to practice conscious parenting and make sure that your goals are aligned and that there are tangible benefits.

I am always advocating that as parents we make as much provision for our children’s education as we can. Education is what made a huge difference in my life and I am forever grateful to my parents for investing in my future when they had very little surplus funds to do so.

I also recently came across an (and yes, I’ll be honest, I spend a lot of my time in their shops) specifically catering for the little ones in our lives. Of course I already have my MySchool card, but Littleworld has so many benefits that you’ll appreciate as a parent of little ones aged 0-7 years. There are vouchers to enjoy (even a spa voucher, which as a mom of two and a growing foetus, we KNOW we can’t say no to) and the chance to win an educational bursary worth R20 000. To be in the running, all you have to do is sign up and if you’re already a member, just swipe your card at the till point as every swipe is an entry. Visit the to see more information and make sure that you enter.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”. Eleanor Roosevelt said that decades ago and she was First Lady of the US during the second world war and the Great Depression (even scarier times than them having Trump as president, some would say.) We house the future with our children and have to not only teach them to dream big, but also help them in every way to make sure that their dreams have wings that can fly. The world is getting smaller and smaller everyday and their dreams are getting bigger and bigger. I’m glad that are part of our world and journey.
