My mom truly is an inspiration to me, no mater what she always put us kids and my dad first! I never quite understood why until I had a baby of my own and then I realized just how much my mother loves and cares for us. There also was never a time in life that I felt that I needed my mother more than when I became a mother myself! I consider myself a #modernmommy to the core but there are times when all you need is your own good ol fashioned mamma and her advice. This year I appreciate my mom even more because I now understand how much of herself she gave for me.

Where do I even begin? In sepedi we say mme waka montedi, mme waka morategi which directly translate to mommy my pillar of strength, mommy my beloved. My mom has impacted my life in so many ways, but I will drill them to the few very close to my heart..She taught me how to give without expecting anything in return, how to remain authentic always, how to smile even when the going gets tough, she taught me how not to dwell on my sorrows as His mercies are new every morning, she taught me about the power of prayer, she instilled the values of ubuntu in me, how to love people unconditionally….how to remain selfless always.

Most importantly she taught me how to fend for myself, she breathed confidence into this woman Busi Phaahla…How I love and I appreciate my mother? I love you momma?.-Happy mothers day everyday!

I can relate with you on this one.
I love my mom, because she compromised and sacrificed a lot for me. During my first year I fell pregnant in my 20’s. My mom assumed responsibility for my son as soon as she heard the news. She was there when I gave birth. She not only a mother to me, but my son as well. She often tells me that she is not ready to be a grandma. I know my son is in good hands in her hands. I know that I will succeed and reach my dreams because she is indirectly taking care of me so that I can be a great wonderful mom to my son. I started searching for schools in East London so that he could stay with me. I am so excited for the journey ahead. I am grateful for my mom. She is absolutely the best.

There are no words to describe what an amazing woman my mother is, but it’s worth a try. After we had a rather serious health scare from her earlier this year – I realized, more than ever, how much I appreciate, love and absolutely admire her. As a woman, a wife and most of all – a mother of four. After being a housewife for almost 12 years, she had to start working again to get myself and my twin brother through our studies. She is such an inspiration and a light in so many of our lives. I can only dream of one day being a little bit of the woman she is. It would mean the world to me if I can spoil her, even if it is just in a small way, because I know it would mean the world to her.

Everyone can write the best story about their mother. However each one has its own special meaning. Therefore mine is the best story of mylife. My mom had me at a very young age and she raised me on her own. She never did what she did to please others, she walked with her head up high knowing she’ll get through it.. I became her world and she allowed no one to take me away from her. The decisions she had to make as a young mother in her days was only going to determine my future. I know and believe everything she did made me who I am today. Everything she didn’t achieve I did and why because of her perseverance and all her encouragement it took raising a daughter in the world we live in today. Shes become my best friend. I can proudly say I’m a young 24 year old independent, sophisticated, strong lady because of her. We need to always remind ourselves as woman we have a great purpose in life to be mothers and my mom has made me so excited for the day I become one because of her nature.

Wow… My late mom was such an amazing woman. My pillar of strength and a woman who taught me how to remain positive and believe in myself. I am blessed with an amazing mother in-law who always makes me feel special. in any way she can. She has taught me that as a new mother i should never let myself go but to let the star in me continue to shine as this will shine on the baby too. Her patience and calmness always reminds me that life is what we make it out to be. She is a remarkable mother. Happy Mother’s day to her and all Mother’s out there.

I owe the person and the mom that I am today to my mother. As a single parent, she could barely take a sick day and in so doing showed me what sacrifice for your family, real work ethic and integrity means. I wish I could give her an opportunity to retire but at age 64 my mom is still working 12 hour shifts as a nurse to make ends meet. Yet my mom has always given food or clothing to someone in need and she always has so much compassion for people. I sometimes wish that she wouldn’t be as trusting of people as she has been hurt physically, conned out of money by people who have taken advantage of her good nature yet she still has immense compassion for strangers. My mom has always been my number one supporter in life and I will always be her number one fan. She deserves some happiness and a treat.

My mom is undoubtably the most amazing woman I have known. She has sacrificed so much to ensure that my siblings and I were able to succeed. She has taught me so many things, not by telling but by doing. I think that of the very long list of things that she has both given me and taught me, the greatest of them all is how to be a good mother myself. In an otherwise difficult childhood my mother taught us hope, love, faith, kindness, perseverance and ensured that we maintained innocence and optimism. She is my hero, my role model, my friend. Love her always ?

As my mom would say ” I would give my everything to make sure you get the best you deserve, not what I think you deserve ” and she truly did. My mom at 50 years of age looks at us today and always cries because of how far we have come in life. We lived in the heart of Manenberg most of our lives. Gun shots, seeing people get killed, drug dealings right at the corner of your house. Living in a 1 bedroom house and still took my unlce in as well who suffers from mental illnesses. Her elders daughter, my sister, shot at 8 through her head because of a bullet that came right though the walls of the house, suffering brain damage nd was told will never be able to read and right, today she only reads the bible. Everyday waking up to her singing “I got a roof up above me…. Thank you Lord for your blessing on me”, carried us through our darkest days. Today im 27, mother of two, married and life is good. I am so blessed and honoured to have a mom like her.Her words everytime she sees me ” you could have turned out like a statistic in Manenberg but God heard all my prayers and made you and inspiration “. Im 27 year old and i have never done drugs in my life, finished school even though it was not the best of grade but i kept going, studied further and made my life better, the life i know shes at ease with. My mom is my pillor of strength. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY LADIES

My mother means more than the world to me. I’m sure everyone’s mother does. But mine does it with no complaints. Being the only financial suppliers in our home she literally gives her everything. I would love to spoil her, she deserves to be spoilt every day and not just on mother’s day. But being on a student budget just plainly sucks. I’m 20 years old, all these years I’ve been a daddy’s girl. It’s only as I started entering adulthood that I realised what my mother actually did and still does for me. She proves to me daily that God truly has blessed me with the mother I deserve. One that has strength, has faith, love in her heart and spreads her love to those around her. She’s taught me indepence which is the best thing for a young female. I love this woman. One day, if in God’s will, I will too know what it is to love as a mother

    Happy mother’s day, everyone ?

You see my mother has been the glue of the family for as long as I can remember. Until a tragedy took placed in 2010, she was diagnosed with severe depression. This resulted in her having to be institutionalized for two years. This broke me, as a only child I had to know see my mother helpless. But further the that it broke her, because she now has to be dependent on pills. But because we serve a living God , now she is fully restored back to her bubbly self and taking care of her family. My mother NEVER let adversities and negative medical reports pull her down. I call her my Phoenix, because she keeps rising.

My mum is the one in a billion mummy…. as she is the greatest mother anyone can ever have. She is my blessing in life. She is the stength and motivator that encourages me to be the best I can. She has taught me invaluable morals, values, beliefs and traditions from our family culture . I learn from her experiences. She is independent and confident and that makes her the most beautiful woman I know. I strive to be like her and she will always be my role model and mentor. Growing up all my life I had to share my mum with many my brother as well as my other brother whom my mum had fostered. After my dad had passed away my mum stood in as a father and a mother, she was there when I got married and when I had my first child, she is always there for me when I need her and as a single parent to a 10 year old she is doing the best she can for him and yet always has time to pick up the phone 3 times a day to find out how we are. My mom taught me to be caring, considerate, selfless, and to always respect my elders. My mom still works a full time job and then comes home to cook and care for her elderly mother who is 87. Even when I became a mother myself I had a need to want to do more, from helping a pregnant school girl complete her matric and buying everything she needed for baby to donating my eggs through Cape Fertility to help two infertile couples start their families. I am pleased to say my egg donation’s resulted in two successful pregnancies. Today I instill the same values and morals in my daughter that my mother passed on to me.I would love to spoil my mom as she has made me into the women that I am today.

My mommy is the Queen of my heart. She gave up her job to look after her kids.As we were growing up no matter what she’s been there. From sports games she will walk or take a bus or taxi to be there in support. My father was the one that drove but with my mommy there was and is still no excuses she makes a way. She always imprinted in our minds that it’s about building the memories and boy do I have alot. She now looks after her grandkids and still builds that memories with them. She selflessly gives up her time to help us as my sister and I are shift working mother’s and so are our husbands. I start work at 4:30am some mornings when I go collect my son she will be like go nap are you hungry I’ll be im fine ,but my mother never gives up .Shes my role model and someone I aspire to be one day.She motivates you and always believes you should have fun in what you do.I wish I can give her so much as she has given my sisters and I but you will never be able to repay your mother. When you meet her she excepts you for who you are and will talk for hours as she loves chatting. She’s very spontaneous and adventurous who will get on a cobra 5times in a row.lol #fact She is a awesome mother.mother in-law and a fabulous granny of 3 she 58 and still looks 45 #lookingyoung#igotitfrommymomma

My Mom is my hero. She is 67 has faced so many trials, hurts disappointments but has risen above it all. She never knew her father and though she knew her Mother (whose birthday would have been today) she was raised with by other Family. Forced to leave primary school to work she missed out on an education. Her strength and determination is what I admire most. Despite her circumstances she got married, raised 5 daughters – always made a way to provide. She loves and gives of herself daily to her children and especially her 17 grandchildren. All she wants in life is to see her family happy and content. After separating from our Father 18 years ago I am privileged to have her live with me and take care of her (she pretty much takes care of us) she is diabetic and has had a few operations but nothing gets her down and she will never complain about anything. She is a gem and definitely a one in a Million who always gives to others.

My mom and I never had the greatest relationship when I was growing up. We were constantly arguing and could never get along. However the minute I had my daughter our relationship changed. Being a mom made me realise that all this time my mom was always right, always looking out for me, always loving me. I needed to change! Being a new mom made me realise how much I hurt my mom and owe’d her a huge apology. She moves mountains for her granddaughter and me on a daily basis and I would love to show her my appreciation by thanking her with this prize. She is an amazing, God fearing women and deserves all that is good in this world. Happy Mothers Day to all.

I now know that a God exists and that he truly loves me, for ultimately blessing me with the greatest gift I could ever ask for, MY MOTHER. I have so much to say, but words fail me. I live to see her happy. Considering the fact that she’s been a single mom for almost two decades since my dad passed away. If I could be half the woman she is, my life would be complete. She’s my hero, mom, dad, best friend, everything in one. Yes, even though sometimes she makes me extremely angry, I’m grateful. I pray to God everyday to keep her for long so I can make her proud. Being a Mom is not always easy, and I see this now that I have become a Mom. The challenges, the hard work and how as a Mom you think “I am such a bad Mom”. I have come to learn all Moms are in the same boat but we never discuss it. So I make an effort to say to all my Mommy friends everyday (and all you Moms out there today) it is OK., and you are the best Mom I know. My mother, my woman crush everyday, a lady whom is special and will always be. From the days when I was still little, she would encourage me to learn to be independant and know well how to do chores in the house because by then, she believed that post my highschool life I would need those skills, little did I know that that was going to be true, until the day I left home from Limpopo Groblersdal to Belhar WC. For a single parent in a family of 6 children and a paying job of less than 5 digits a month, I sometimes wonder how she does it, how does she take care of the whole family with no husband and no multiple streams of income. Anywho, as much as she sounds like an angel, there are times I really wouldn’t love her to be my mother, but I know that I love her and I don’t see how my life would be should she pass from this earth.

My mom is a social worker from 8-4 juggling her days between Lavender Hill and Groendal In Franschoek. But behind her day job,she is a wife to my dad,a mother to my younger brother , a servant of the Lord, a Social Work Honours student, and lately, a doting grandmother to my son.WOW!! I can only aspire to juggle my roles with the absolute grace my mom displays. <3

My mom raised 5 kids on her own until we were teens and then she remarried but that didn’t mean she cared any lrss. She taught us to respect everyone big or small. She disciplined us when we were wrong and showed us the right path. A woman of God she raised us as God fearing people. Raising us in a less then favourable community she kept us safe and taught us well so that we could be rolemodels to others in our community. Today we are all successful in all spheres of our life’s because of her and I am proud to be a single mothers because my mom taught me ur past does not define you or determine where your going. Things don’t always work out, sometimes you take a risk and fail in life and that’s exactly what happened to my husband, two babies and myself. My mom took us in fed us clothed us and encouraged us to not give up and to not give in. Believe me – many times I wanted to throw in the towel. We r slowly rebuilding our lives but where would we be without my mom? She’s a testament to hard work, courage , love, strength and kindness.
I can’t imagine a life without her and I would love to spoil her with some girl time as we both have two boys each! She is the best granny to my two toddlers.

My mom, I could write so much about her, but one thing I’m really grateful for, is the day she was in labour with me, when I was facing a hard time, delivering my baby girl even though she was no more. I don’t think I would have gotten through that painful process without her. Her prayer n love kept me alive. May God continue to bless her.

my mom is the best because she
raised me all by herself.she fell
pregnant while she was doing grade 12
She didn’t give up on her studies.she
asked relatives to look after me so she
    completes school…after completing
    she went to college.unfortunately she
never got a decent job.when I was in
matric I wanted to go to the matric
dance so bad and she couldn’t afford
to pay for me.she came with the idea
of selling cup cakes and vetkuks.she
managed to make enough cash and I
did go to the matric dance.more
pressure for her when I passed my
matric she didn’t want me to stay
home.so left the baking business and
moved to Tembisa to sell chicken
feets, livers and chicken heads at
    Oakmoor train station.I needed money
to go to college.am in my 3rd semester
because of her.she’s paying my fees
and also supporting me and my 2
    siblings.she is my superhero because
she put her pride aside when people
started judging her on selling chicken
    feet and livers.

My mom has always been a pillar of support for my family. Her super-strength always kicks in whenever we go through trials, of which we have had many! We lost my Dad, brother and sister within a short period. Even after she just had a womb operation – she was still inspiring and motivational and more concerned about everyone else rather than herself! She has taught me to be a strong women who can be depended on.

My mommy taught me how to be a mommy. She has taught me strength through tough times, loyalty and commitment. She taught me love and how to love. She has taught me how to care nor only for others but myself too. My mom has managed a career and a family -she has taught me that nothing is impossible . And if I can be half the woman she is one day I’ll be grateful. Being a mom myself and juggling my career all at once- whenever I am tired or feel like giving up- I think of my mom and how she has managed both a career and family, and I know that nothing is impossible .

Nothing I could ever give her in this world would measure up to just how much she deserves.

I was adopted by my mom’s sister and her husband and only found out in my teens that my ‘aunt’ is actually my real mother. My adoptive mom passed away almost 8 years ago and now I’m trying to build a relationship with my mom. I would like to treat her to a mom&daughter spa day and some nice goodies because it must not have been easy for her to make that decision all those years ago… #HappyMother’sDayMom?

My mom is the best, she is like the warm blanket in the cold winter night. She has always looked out for me, her disciplining me when I did wrong although I was as stubborn as the hard coconut she gently cracked the internal resistance by teaching me how to be a responsible hard working lady today, for instance teaching how to keep my room organized which later influenced me to balance the areas of my life for sustainable progress. She is a strong woman, who takes care of her family but does not forget to take care of herself, I can clearly remember how beautiful she looks when she goes out to woman societies, the church she always looked beautiful and behind that smile she carries lies difficulties break through, she embraces her struggles and teaches me to embrace the changes and live in the present moment working towards a brighter future.

1997 het God een van Sy engele nader geroep, haar vlerke afgebreek en gese: ‘Ek het jou nodig om n ma te wees vir hierdie kind wat Ek jou gaan gee’. Daardie Engel was my mammie. En vir amper 19 jaar lank het my ma daardie rol tot die uiterste bes van haar vermoens vertolk.

Hy het haar geroep as ma en vir haar n kind gegee.

Hy het my geroep as kind en vir my n ma gegee ..

Ek wens vir mammie n baie gelukkige Moedersdag toe. Ek wens ek was n breukdeel van n dogter van die ma wat sy vir my is.

    Lief vir haar oneindig baie.

In 2012 I fell pregnant and dropped out of College, she was disappointed in me but didn’t want to show it. In the same year December I gave birth to my son,my mom’s only grandson. She was so happy and wanted to all she can for me and my son. She made sure he got his first birthday party, which she didn’t disappoint in that :). Well the moral of the story is,my mom is always by my side through thick and thin and she’d do anything for her grandson and that’s what makes her so special and appreciated.

Life hasn’t been what my mommy expected it to be but she’s done the absolute best with what she has, she lost her husband two months after she gave birth to their last born, the heartbreakof losing her soulmate (she still wears her wedding ring 20years later) didn’t stop her from selflessly and fiercely loving her children and giving us the best even if it meant she went without and that’s something I can definitely learn from her. I’ve watched her care for the less fortunate and for the orphaned and she has mothered them so well, I’ve lost count of the number of people she’s let stay in our little four room house. She’s an absolute blessing and the best thing since sliced bread and speckled eggs

How can I not get soppy by describing my selfless, kind and beautiful moments. Humble in the most extraordinary way..she is taking care of my beautiful daughter in Cape Town, wheelchair bounded, through a car accident, my mom took my place when I left Panorama Medi Clinic, as a single mom, to came back to work to pay the medical bills of Kaylen my daughter after almost a month, and she was still in ICU..my mom visited, talked to her, when she couldn’t even talk nack..my mom rubbed her legs..with the strongest faith that she would walk again…my mom encouraged her to say her first word again..to smile, and to eat food again..because she was even scared to eat again. After she could not adjusted or made any progress in rehab, at a rehab centre full of medical experts..my mom nurtured her everyday..washed her, feed her..loved her, hugged and kissed her…It was incredible to see the bond between them…Mommy taught her how to help herself by teaching her how to cope with her new working hand..she offered herself and her time to her granddaughter..she taught her with the biggest patience how to take little steps again on her own…she is helping her with school projects, baking her cakes, pampering her..making her beautiful, but above all she is loving her like a mom..and unconditionally…that makes her a superwoman..and I can only show gratitude and salute her…I love you Mom

Happy mothers day to all mothers. I am extremely blessed to have my mother. She single handedly raised me and I never needed anything because she sacrificed so much of herself for me. Growing up I didnt realise all the sacrifice and struggle she had to go through to make sure that I had a solid education and that I had everything I needed. I am now 31 years of age and have realised as I transitioned into audlthood all that she has done and am eternally grateful to God for enabling her to do all that she did and it has inspired me to be a strong independent woman. And if I should be so lucky to be a mother someday she is the roldemodel I will look to and know that it can be done ❤

And as I’m sitting here in a brand new city (moved to Jhb for work 1 May) in a crowded restaurant, all by myself on Mother’s Day, it’s like she’s sitting across the table, checking me for not cutting my hair, or calling my sister, or my third glass of wine, or a million other things she reserves the right to judge.. I remember why my mom will always be awesome. She was a teacher in every sense of the word. A rock. Flawed but flawless. Thank you so much Jo for reminding me that love never leaves…

My mother keeps my mind strong when all else fails. She has taught me to stay strong no matter what im going through. I could never understand this..i always felt that i needed to be fragile if i needed to be fragile. I couldnt possibly always be strong. Could i? I recieved my answer in a pink lil bundle 3 years ago. I know now my mother knew i had to be strong for my lil girl. My mom knew i had to fearless and brave and show my lil one that no matter what she can do it all. My mother has been everything from my nurse to my educator but she has been a real friend the most. I value her patience, her caring nature and her ability to heal my heart without knowing she has. My mother has impacted my life in everyway and still to this minute impacts me. My mom really possesses the word SUPERWOMAN like you cannot believe. She is the strongest, most courageous, and the bigger fighter I have ever met.

My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at age 50. She went through so much pain and suffering and really thought she would loose her life. However, instead of breast cancer getting her under, she fought. She had chemotherapy and radiation, as well as a mastectomy and all her lymph nodes removed in her arms. She always managed to smile and hide the pain she was going through, even though I could tell it was the hardest thing in the world for her, yet she was still doing it.

Now, 3 years later and 2 years away from being officially cancer free, she has to drink pills that cause her so much discomfort, and has to go for massages on her arm to get the blood moving – yet she does it, without complaining once.

    Now that, is a SUPERWOMAN.

I would love to spoil my mom with the money so she can get herself a new Chanel perfume – her little guilty pleasure. And just give her something that is hers and only hers.

She instinctively just knows when I could do with some help or support, whether it’s in the form of a hug, or a phone call, or some advice or a new scarf.
She makes a mean lasagne, brings an instant smile to my baby’s face and we can laugh together like it’s nobody’s business.

I love my mom because no matter what she goes through she comes out stronger no matter how bad things turn up in her life she’s got away to pick herself up again and get through it. She brings comfort when there’s sadness, she brings joy where you feel there’s no hope. She’s always there one step away. She sacrifices everything for her children and expects nothing in exchange for the loves that she gives. She’s eternal, a angel a gift from God.

I was a new mom for a mere three days, discharged and on my way home. We stopped at mom’s place for a quick visit. The visit turned into lunch and a breastfeeding session as my daughter had difficulty latching. Just before we left for our daunting first night alone with a newborn, mom loaded a weeks worth of food in our car. I was absolutely overcome with emotion and couldn’t stop crying for a good 6 hours straight. I felt so thankful, as a new mom I finally ‘got’ it and it was too much to handle. I finally understood unconditional love.

My mum is the most loving, warm, compassionate, caring & selfless person I have ever known. She is the one woman who is the embodiment of happiness amidst all circumstances, unconditional virtuosity and generosity of spirit. She is a great mother, an irreplaceable friend and a remarkable human being. My Mother, has been the most amazing role model to me; she has never steered me in the wrong direction, she allowed me to make my own mistakes without so much as an “I told you so.” She afforded me the space to grow and learn for myself without ever being so far away that she weren’t able to help when I needed her. She is my mom, my mentor, my strength, my number one fan and, most of all, my best friend. She has always been a constant force in an ever-changing life. No matter the trials she faced in your own life, she always found the means to ensure my needs were met. To this day I cannot begin to imagine how she did it. Despite all her heartaches, worries and troubles, she never lost her kind nature, she never surrendered her tenderness or sacrificed her values. When my heart aches, she know exactly what to say to pick me up and bring me back to myself. Whenever I have felt like our world is caving in, and that I am falling apart, it is her strength and love that have kept me going.I will always cherish the morning teatimes we spend together; the time we are able to relax into one another, to chat and catch up on all the goings on in our lives. I know that through her love, wisdom and friendship she has given me the ability to love unconditionally, to cherish every living creature and to treat them with the utmost respect and kindness. If I am able to grow to be half the woman that I see in her, I will consider my life a success.I can say, with certainty, that without her by my side, I would not be the woman I am today. Everything I have achieved, I owe to her. She is my pillar of strength and my most trusted friend. . From her, I learned everything that I needed to survive in this challenging world. Mum taught me the real meaning of love (outside of emotions and beyond words) forgiveness, patience and grace. I would love to win this for my mum. For her Selflessness, ongoing Love and dedication to her family & sacrifices she has made for us over the years, she deserves a spoil. I love my mum very much and even though my mum now suffers from a terminal illness, she continues to face the World with a Smile!

I could sit here and give a list of things my mom is amazing at and what makes her spectacular, but I won’t, because she knows. I tell her ever so often… but I must say, the one thing I feel is her legacy, the one thing that stays with me, is most important and I’ve seen it with my own eyes with my own children, is that she accepts me as I am and loves me that way and I’ve learned to embrace and accept myself in the same way. There’s a “tongue-in-the-cheek” saying that goes: Sometimes when I open my mouth, my mom comes out. (Did you see what I did there?) Well, if I’m just a 10th of the woman my mom is, I know for sure that I am the best mom I can be. She’s my idol. I strive to be like her. Not just in the mom department but in the way she lives her life in general. Four years ago she suffered a stroke and the doctors told us to expect the worse. But she survived! Then came the horrific news… the stroke left her blind in her one eye, she could not walk or speak. She was like a tiny little baby again. Because she raised me, it was only fair that I helped her on the road to recovery again. It was a long and dark road but we took it day by day and step by step. She refused to give up. She was not going to let something like that stand in her way to live a long and normal life again. During the months in rehab she worked so hard and it sometimes left me in tears. The stroke still left a scar – her right hand is still paralysed and she cannot use it at all. But she taught herself to use her left hand instead. She is so brave that we forget sometimes that she only uses her left hand. The sheer willpower my mom showed during the last 4 years left me speechless. I always knew she was strong but she amazes me more every day. She’s a very strong and independent woman! She did not like the fact that she had to ask us to take her places, so she started to teach herself how to drive again. In the beginning it was a struggle but after a few months she is driving around like a 17 year old again. Looking back I can only say thank you that she was spared. My daughter’s lives are so much richer with her in it and I cannot possibly imagine life without my mommy.

There are so many reasons why I Love my mother, just as there are so many words to describe her. I only know one thing and that is I don’t know how I will deal with this world without her and her Love and because of this, I show how much I appreciate her as often as I can. I am praying that my daughter will be influence by this Love even when she reaches her teenage years. My mother is a warrior in my eye, but with a heart of gold. I can only hope/pray/practice that I get this qualities from my Mother.

My mother is incredible because she taught me how to be strong, how to be caring, how to be a dreamer, how to be a maker…she spoiled me to the bone, she disciplined me to the core, she showed me there are more shades of life then merely black and white, she shared how painful it is to grow old, yet to think like a child… she made mistakes so i could learn, she sowed the seed of love in me that make me grow each day:), she is always there even when I least expect, she told me to be human and not perfect:)

The effort and hardwork that she has put into raising me up and making me the girl that I am today is absolutely outstanding!I am so proud to be able to call her my mum. Thanks for putting a roof over my head and food on my plate every day for 25 years. I love you to the moon and back… thanks mum for everything!

Looking at my first born one day whilst sleeping, I could not believe that God thought me worthy to be this tiny little person’s mother. It was unbelievable the love I felt in my heart and I asked myself: Wow, does my mom love me like this? Suddenly I understood every “no” to my requests and all the times she put my needs in front of her needs and how easy that decision was. I’m so thankful for the time, money, desires and goals she missed out on so she could be a loving mother to me. She continues to support me and is a second mother to my kids. I can never repay her for her love. How fortunate we are, who still have a mom.

My mommy is an inspiration to so many. Mum was involved in an accident & the doctor told us that she won’t make it. She had 3rd degree burns but she fought to stay alive. She amazed us all & she said she fought to live for us her children. She went through a very diffcult time with skin graphs & was in hospital for 6 months. My mum has since well recovered – her zest for life, her motivation has inspired me to love & live life to the fullest. Mum is my rock, my strength and my Goddess. Mum was there when I gave birth to my first baby, she stayed with me throughout the 12 hours of pain & tears. Love you mommy

    Hi Jo-Ann
My mom is an amazing woman. She lost her mother when she was 8yrs old and had a father as an alcoholic. Life wasn’t easy for her growing up but not once has she allowed circumstances of her past to define her future. Everything she never had as a young child she made sure she gave us! She was forced to leave school in order to work and help support her family. Which means she never matriculated even though she loved being in school. She made a promise to herself that she would complete high school. She gained her matric certificate in 1998 the same year I matriculated. It took her 2 years but she did it. She then went on to university to obtain her degree in industrial psychology at UWC! What an inspiration! All the while being a working mom with 3 girls to raise. My sisters and I including my Dad are so blessed to have her in our lives. But the most important thing she has done for us was introducing us to the Love of Jesus! We love and honor her for this.

My passion for mothers evolved from my backseat exposure of my Super Woman… I believe where passion and skill come together – you can expect a masterpiece. My passion for mothers evolved from my backseat exposure of a Super Woman who needed to maintain the balance between the demands of a career and “being a mother”. I’ve always been fascinated by the versatility of my mother and her ability to just fit everything in just one day. At heart I am secretly ‘a mother to all’ of my godchildren and am definitely the ‘favorite aunt’, because of her love for other children, other than her own. None as fulfilling as being ‘a mom to those who don’t have one’ and through my exposure at various child facilities I’ve had firsthand experience of the critical role of any mother in a child’s life – whether it is by blood or heart. My extensive background in the Corporate Health and Wellness industry has laid the foundation for my understanding of what the modern mom requires and setting them of for success is where our future lies. In doing so, both mom and family will enjoy a home environment where all feel safe, nurtured and loved. Creating that space for the mom, is what I do… My mother has lit the passion in me for modern moms. She supports my dream and vision to be a support to mothers on various platforms. I will forever be grateful to her for allowing me to following my passion!

Happy belated mother’s day Jo-Ann! Hope you were thoroughly spoilt:) My mom is the eldest of her eight siblings and grew up in financially constrained circumstances. Because of that she couldn’t study further after school and started to work after completing matric. She assisted her parents by offering financial support to their household when she started working and subsequently, most of her siblings now have degrees and professional careers. She married my dad and had my sister and I when she was quite young. She and my dad were married for 32 years when my dad passed on following a long battle with cancer. My dad was really ill and my mom looked after and nursed him until the day he died. She cleaned and dressed his wounds, fed him, bathed him and dressed him. She did all this with unbelievable strength. A strength none of us knew she had. She is a very timid and quiet person. So when we saw how she took to living her vows “in sickness and in health” we were just amazed. Since my dad has now passed she is responsible for running the household (something my dad mostly did) and she does this with such finesse. And now her siblings are there for her when her garage door breaks or she needs help with the things my dad used to do. To add to her to-do list now she also travels between Port Elizabeth (where we are originally from) and Cape Town (where I live now) to help my husband and I with out little girl when we need her. She has taught me what it means to love, to give and to live out the marital vows you make. Her strength is beautifully woven into her quiet personality and I am unbelievably blessed to know her and to be called her daughter…

My mom is the strongest woman I know. Never in my life have I seen someone so strong!
My mother taught me to be strong, she taught me to be strong even when when things are dark and most importantly, she taught me to pray and to keep praying.
Whenever I would complain or worry she would just say, “Die Here sal voorsien.”.

This woman deserves the world and that’s what I want to give to her after I finish my studies. She has the biggest heart and even when people disappoint her, she still cares because that’s just who she is. I can only dream to someday be the woman she is!

Happy mothers day! I think my mom is awesome as she raised 6 kids single-Handed. growing up we lived a gang/ drug infested area. She put us all through school. I can now proudly say that we all have some form of tertiary education and have been able to give our children what she was able to give us and more. Even now in our adult lives she is still a pillar of strength, despite having a heart attack a month ago. Reflecting on my childhood, I can recall numerous other children she took of the streets, and provided for even when we only had a 2 bedrooms council house in Factreton. So in my eyes and heart my mother really is a gem.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. That describes my mother perfectly, she truly is one in a million, my mother is my rock, my best friend, sometimes we don’t see eye to eye, but we always work things out. I LOVE my mum so much, I simply can’t imagine my life without her, if it weren’t for my mum I don’t know where I would be today, she deserves all my love and praise 🙂

Happy belated mother’s day to you and everyone on this platform. I can say my mum was the best person i have ever met in my life. A single mum with wisdom, love courage strength and big heart. assertive and firm but warm at the same time. To be who i am today is because of her. Always putting me first that herself. Now she has passed on but her memory is tangible and all the treasures she stored in me are evident for all to enjoy. I love you mum and always will miss you

This day is just another reminder that all those who still have their mothers alive make sure you have time for them and treasure that. For me to know God it was her and now i am able to do the same for my children. It was a blessing to be carried in your womb and be part of the legacy that God is still building for generations to come.
    Thank you mhamha..

Amidst the hustle and bustle of my happiness, moods, achievements and challenges, stands the constant presence of my mother. She is the one person I can always reach out to, whilst undoubtedly knowing she will always be there .
My mom was left to raise four young children on her own after my dad who was the only breadwinner in my family passed away. She barely had an education and was a home executive. Yet she fought everyday(even during her mourning period) so that I could receive an education, and could pursue a life which was very different from hers. A life where I could receive an education which equipped me with the tools and instruments which were necessary to forge a successful path. After the passing away of my father, she became the one constant pillar of strength for me.

Everything that I know about sacrifice, determination, and hard work I have learnt from my mother. She could have forced me to find employment and support the family financially, but she did not. Instead she took on all of my and my siblings burdens be it financial or otherwise and motivated me to empower myself with an education. Since the passing away of my father she has not purchased a single thing for herself apart from the absolute bare minimum essentials.

No words can do justice to the amount of times and ways that my mother has inspired me. She is my hero. She is a superwoman. She is supermom.

I’ve always known my mom to be a hardworking woman and that’s where I get my work ethic from.

She raised me as a single mom until I was 10 years old (I’m 36 now) then we moved in with my dad. She always made sure I had everything I needed (even if she had to go without). My mom has worked in a factory since she was 20 years old (She’s 57 now) and has always made sure I looked the prettiest and gave me the best she could afford. Even though she doesn’t have to work now (as I can take care of her now), she still works because she does not want to be a burden to anyone. She works hard in the house as well. Her house is always spotless and family is taken care off. She gets up at 4am every morning to get ready for work, leaves home at 5am and gets home at 6:30pm sometimes 7pm at night (and has to work every Saturday until 1pm now too). She is such a giving person and for the last year of my grandmother’s life, she offered up every Saturday and Sunday morning (at least 2 hours) to wash her because she injured herself and wasn’t able to do it. She also lost her sister who was her best friend 2 years ago. She also is there for my cousins and their kids as support (despite not always having the energy or strength).

I often complain of how tired I am (and compared to my mom, I have nothing to complain about).

My mom is a gem. She is selfless. She is the kind of mom that will go without a plate of food so that her family can eat.

Today I am a successful career woman and I owe a lot of what I have achieved in life to my mom.

I do have the best mom xx

She taught me so much about God and being a woman that I sometimes cry so much that she is not with me to help with my boys. We went through so much hardships with her when I was growing up but the patience, the faith and belief in God was all she had and with a smile on her face she will tell me everything will be ok. Oh how wonderful she was and still always will be. She is indeed my rock and forever will be in my heart.

Being a mom made me realise that my mom was always right! Always looking out for me, always loving me, always protecting me and I needed to change! It finally hit me and I realised just how much I hurt my mother and owe’d her a huge apology. there is no greater person in any childs life then their mother………God says in Proverbs that a Great Woman is a woman of Faith……and that is what my mom is to me…..a Great and Amazing woman of Faith……she has carried her family……husband,us kids and her grandkids through prayer….if ever I have been in doubt or despair or need to make a decision I have always shared it with my mom……because I always know she will pray about it and what ever answer I get ….I knew it was God’s decision for me…..My mom is my rock….when I was 14 years old I was diagnosed with cancer……my mom gave up her job to look after me and her faith carried me and our family through a stormy time…….when I went through my divorce, she made my dad sell their home to move closer to where I lived so that they could be there for me and my kids……what a sacrifice …..I could never pay back my parents especially MY MOM FOR all the sacrifices she has made for me and my kids….it has been 11 years since my divorce my kids are 21,16 and 14 she has raised them as her own….she still insists that I phone her when I get to work in the mornings…to make sure I arrive safe…..my mom forces my dad to fetch my daughter at university in the afternoons…. even though I insists my daughter wait at the library on campus till I fetch her……my mom will be 70 years old on Thursday and she carries her age gracefully eventhough age is kreeping up on her….she still refuses to be grey and we girls make sure she gets her anti-wrinkle cream…….My mom is my HERO she is a remarkable, strong woman and is the clue that keeps our family toghether for sure……she is the reason I AM A GREAT moM TO MY KIDS TODAY

My mom and I never had the greatest relationship when I was growing up. We were constantly arguing and could never get along. However the minute I had my daughter our relationship changed. Being a mom made me realise that my mom was always right! Always looking out for me, always loving me, always protecting me and I needed to change! It finally hit me and I realised just how much I hurt my mother and owe’d her a huge apology. She moves mountains for her granddaughter and for me on a daily basis and I would love to show her my appreciation by thanking her with this prize. She is an amazing, God fearing women who continues to love and support me regardless of circumstances. She deserves all that is good in this world. I love and appreciate my mom everyday… Thank you
