I could not think of a better way to start the relaunch of ModernMommy.co.za than with the pictures from our baby shower yesterday. Yes, it’s been a long, LONG time since I’ve posted and I am super excited to be back and share my journey with you. Thank you very much for all your kind wishes for our second pregnancy!
First things first (and now, after you’ve seen the pictures, it might be stating the obvious), we’re having a GIRL! Our son is now nearly 2 years old and what an experience it has been raising our first child! Yesterday, it was time to celebrate the imminent arrival of his sister and I was joined by just over 30 of my nearest and dearest friends who literally flew in from all over the country to be part of an incredible baby shower brunch.
Hannes Maritz from www.kraak.co.za lead the charge when it came to the organization and we chose the wonderful new venue in the city called “Nasdak” which is the modern box perched atop the Media24 building on the 26th floor in the Cape Town Foreshore. Gillian Adams, one of my besties from primary school days already and a legend in the events industry assisted Hannes and knew how to translate my personality into the perfect baby shower. Dankie, my Bokkie Gillo!!! Big thanks to Orisha and her team for going the extra mile and making the perfect venue even more perfect. https://goo.gl/photos/foVcCNe1hgNt8PyR7 is where you can view more pictures of the venue. It is just beyond amazing and in such an iconic location with panoramic views of the Mother City! Natalie and Mari, another two of my besties, were also roped in to help and found the perfect cake, fit for a princess. Johnny Hamman and Marius Uys of Slippery Spoon http://nothambutman.com/slippery-spoon/ created a menu that made everyone have ample visits to the gorgeous festive table of treats – Johnny and Marius had us swooning over whole sides of pink peppercorn seared salmon with lime crème fraiche, fig carpaccio and boiled egg platters with mint confetti and raspberry hollandaise as well as lightly seared pink oyster mushrooms with parmesan shavings and fresh lemon and of course, beautiful macaroons!
The flowers – WOW!!! I think each lady who entered the venue let out an audible gasp of excitement as they were crowned with an orchid and fynbos wreath by my flower guru Ilse Louw www.instagram.com/blomstories and were lead to a fairy-tale like table laden with the most incredible floral displays which had golden baby bottles and dummies playfully hidden as little visual surprises. She is an incredible talent and I cannot wait to work with her again in the future. There was even a beautiful installation of a baby chair with draping strelitzias, orchids and fynbos – a pure visual feast!
Anelma of www.baiegoeters.co.za supplied all the bits and bobs and also forms part of the incredible team put together by Hannes. Big thank you to my gorgeous friend, Gillian Adams, who assisted Hannes with creating this vision of a celebration! Denzil Jacobs (www.denziljacobs.co.za) did all the photography and captured so many beautiful moments which I’ll share with you over the coming days.
Again, thanks for visiting www.modernmommy.co.za again and for being part of this journey! I cannot wait to meet our little princess – they say 1+1 does not equal 2 when it comes to children, so I look forward to seeing how our joy (and sleep deprivation) increases exponentially over the next few weeks!
Lots of love and light,
